Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Tragic Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident near Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital arrives after the global fight fans had expressed condolences for the champion in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
