Harvard ex-president Summers Resigns from ChatGPT Maker's Leadership
One-time economic leader Lawrence Summers is departing from the governing body at the ChatGPT creator, just days after a collection of emails between him and notorious criminal the disgraced billionaire became widely known.
He remarked in an announcement that he was "grateful for the privilege to have contributed, excited about the potential of the organization, and look forward following their progress".
Summers, who once led the prestigious university, announced on recently that he would be stepping back from public responsibilities due to his connections with Jeffrey Epstein.

The recently released messages demonstrated that Summers communicated with Epstein until the day before the financier's 2019 apprehension for alleged trafficking of young people.
In additional comments, the AI firm expressed it understood his determination to depart.
"We appreciate his many contributions and the perspective he offered to the Board," OpenAI stated.
Congressional Action
This news follows after the two houses of Congress agreed on Tuesday to endorse a legislation that would compel the US justice department to make public its files on the case.
The bill will subsequently proceed to the office of US President Donald Trump for endorsement. Trump has indicated he plans to endorse the legislation, after modifying his stance on the issue following objections from his followers.

A batch of Epstein-connected correspondence made public by the House Oversight Committee last week mentioned numerous well-known personalities in the Epstein's previous network, without indicating any illegal behavior by those figures.

He led the institution from five years and is still a academic there. When declaring his step-down from public roles recently on this week, he stated he would maintain his teaching commitments.

Following Summers' declaration on earlier this week, the Center for American Progress, a liberal research organization in the capital where Summers was a prominent member, confirmed that Summers was not associated with the group.
