Tottenham Manager Frank Labels Vicario Booers 'Not True Real Supporters'
Fulham Begin Powerfully to Defeat Tottenham and Raise Pressure on Frank
Tottenham Hotspur supporters who jeered keeper Vicario were informed afterwards "they cannot be true Tottenham fans" by boss Frank.
Spurs let in a pair of goals in the first initial moments to fall 2-1 to their opponents, registering their tenth Premier League at home defeat of 2025.
But the main topic of discussion was Fulham's next score when Vicario gave away possession well outside his area.
He ventured out to handle a long ball and carried the ball towards the touchline.
However, instead of kicking it into touch, the Italy international turned and attempted to clear away, but slipped as the ball glanced off Wilson and was collected by King.
The forward laid the ball off to Wales midfield player Harry Wilson, who curled a shot into the goal from the sideline recorded at thirty-six point six yards.
Moments later when the ball came to Vicario again, some Tottenham fans booed him.
The team were booed off at the interval, with the club 2-0 behind, and again at the final whistle.
One of those booing sessions truly irritated the manager.
"I heard a few of our supporters reportedly jeered the situation and booed after, which, in my opinion is totally unjustifiable," the Danish manager commented about the supporters' reaction to his shot-stopper.
"[They] cannot be true Tottenham fans that do that. Fair enough booing following the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are supporting one another, we are with one another moving ahead."
Tete had handed the visitors a fourth-minute advantage before Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an better second-half showing.
Former top-flight keeper Joe Hart remarked that the next score was "completely avoidable".
"I certainly appreciate the supporters' frustration," the ex-keeper continued. "I know the role the keeper is playing. He is a great squad member, he's a real leader in the locker room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your actions.
"He was heavily implicated in what turned out to be the winning goal."
'It's In the Game, I Can Handle It'
Thomas Frank Defended His Keeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Game
Italy international the keeper is in his 3rd season with Tottenham.
He said following the match that he had to accept the feedback.
"The second score was a mistake of my own, I accept responsibility for that," he commented.
"The intent was to clear the ball far and I just struck the ball in a poor way. It was an even bigger mountain to climb."
He said receiving jeers "is part of the game".
"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he added. "The team cannot be affected by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the right to do what they think.
"It's on the team to remain more calm, to concentrate on our own performance. We are missing in composure and calmness to overturn results. This match is a poor loss and it is tough to accept."
'It Shocked Me Nobody Went Back to the Line'
In spite of Vicario's mistake, it was not an easy goal for Harry Wilson to score.
In fact it was the second most distant Premier League score of the season – following Tyler Adams' 43.3 metre strike for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which incidentally too occurred on the same day.
The goalscorer said he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an open goal to target.
10 seconds elapsed between the keeper coming out of his box and Wilson shooting – which was 5 moments following the kick.
"I felt like the goalkeeper was away from the box for a long time," Wilson said.
"It amazed me none of the defenders went back to the goal line. When not one of them covered the goal, my interest sparked somewhat.
"Udogie slipped too, which allowed me a little extra time. Then it was all about attempting to make the correct contact and place it on target. I felt a good feeling, as soon as it left my foot, that it was heading in."
'When You're in a Bad Spell, Everything Appears to Work Against You'
Jeering Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unacceptable - the Manager
Although Vicario's mistake led coverage, this was an all-round bad day for Tottenham to continue their home struggles.
The match was their 10th at home loss of the year in the league, a joint team record along with nineteen ninety-four and 2003.
The side still have home games against Frank's former club the Bees and title holders the Reds to come before the close of the season.
Only one of those victories have come after Frank took over from his predecessor in the summer.
"If you are behind 2-0 after the opening, there is a huge challenge to overcome," stated the boss.
"When you're in a bad spell, all aspects appears to go against you too – the opening was a deflected attempt, the second is a error from the keeper.
"The outcome leaves us in a position where we have lost an additional match. Each fixture has a unique story, this game we lost in the early stages.
"We simply need to continue striving. The later period was much better and with luck something we can use to learn."
Spurs have lost four consecutive home capital clashes for the initial time in the top division.
And they are recording nine point five shots and 3.2 efforts on goal per game in the Premier League – their poorest rates on file in a one campaign (since at least the 2003-04 season).
Ex- Fulham midfield player Murphy stated that the manager has to ride the storm.
"He must accept the stick," Murphy remarked. "He has accepted a high profile job at a huge football club with massive expectation. There is pressure and duty that accompanies that.
"The performances at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
